Ginkgo Museum

The Ginkgo tree has been regarded for many years as a symbolic and one of the most effective medicinal plants. Find out everything about its myths, its natural powers and look at artistic representations of the tree.

Museum for Prehistory and Early History of Thuringia

Take a look at finds and excavations dating back to 400,000 years ago. More than 3,000 exhibits bear witness to Thuringian history.

The City Museum and the Kunsthalle Harry Graf Kessler

In the Weimars City Museum you will learn all important facts and data on the city's history up to the year 1990 through around 100,000 exhibits, with a special highlight being the large textile collection, which focuses on 19th and 20th century fashion.

The Kunsthalle Harry Graf Kessler is located in a former brickyard, which offers the museum a very special flair. The hall has only been used for temporary special exhibitions since 2006.

New Museum Weimar

The Neues Museum was one of the first German museums to open in 1869 and was designed in the neo-Renaissance style. At that time, the museum was already used as an exhibition venue for works of modern art.

Today, you can view the Paul Maenz Collection and the ever-changing special exhibitions. But alone the building itself is worth a visit.

German Bee Museum

As the name suggests, here you will learn everything important about the small yellow-black bees. The permanent exhibition is divided into three sections: the biology of bees, the history of beekeeping and modern apiculture. About 1,500 exhibits, pictures, beekeeping equipment and bee products will be on display.

Weimar Railway Museum

This museum is a must for all railway fans during their stay in Weimar. Here, the history of railways and their essence is documented and presented, with the focus on train transport in Thuringia using electric and diesel locomotives as well as the Weimar depot.

Buchenwald Concentration Camp Memorial

From 1937 to 1945 there was a concentration camp here in Buchenwald, which accommodated Nazi crimes. From 1945, however, it was used as a Soviet special camp of the occupying forces until it became a national memorial in 1989. Today you can visit the memorial and its museum.
